All About Taillight Bulbs for BMW Motorcycles

The taillights on your BMW motorcycle are critical to your safe riding, especially at night. While you know that your headlights light your way and alert oncoming traffic to your presence on the road, it's your taillights that warn drivers behind you that you're ahead -- so they're able to respond appropriately when you slow down for any reason.

While halogen bulbs were once the most prevalent option, today more and more taillight bulbs are LED. That's a good thing, since LED bulbs shine brighter than halogen bulbs -- and they tend to last longer before they need to be replaced.

You will, however, need to replace the taillight bulbs on your bike eventually. Our advice: inspect how well they work from time to time. Since you can't see them while riding, have a friend or family member check them for you while you're sitting in the driveway or the garage. You can check them yourself, too, if you carefully back up to a highly reflective surface and check over your shoulder for a red glow.

When it comes time to change them, getting the right ones -- OEM -- is essential. If you need help with this or any other lighting install, contact a BMW dealer to schedule a service appointment.
